Invite Application for Recognition as an Advanced Practice Nurse under the Voluntary Scheme on Advanced and Specialised Nursing Practice Formulated by the Nursing Council Hong Kong (NCHK)
NCHK has launched the Voluntary Scheme on Advanced and Specialised Nursing Practice on 27 Jan 2021, 16 specialties are selected for the application. For the time being, the specialties related to Medical Nursing opened for application include Oncology Nursing and Medical Nursing while Infection Control Nursing will be in the next phase. Brief details of the Voluntary Scheme are as follows:
Aim of the Voluntary Scheme:
1. To advance the professional competence of nurses.
2. To pave the way for setting up a statutory registration system in the long run.
Eligibility:
a) obtained a post-RN registration Clinical Master in Nursing / Health Science in the related specialty OR;
b) obtained a post-RN registration Master degree in health related stream AND completed the Post-Registration Certificate Course (“PRCC”) / Hospital Authority’s Specialty Nurse Recognition Scheme Certificate / recognised in-service training for at least 80 hours OR;
c) a Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Nursing (“HKAN”) or equivalent
AND
d) possessed six years of full time post-registration nursing experience immediately prior to his/her application in which at least the most recent four years must be serving in the related specialty area
The procedure will be relatively straight forward for nurses who are fellow of Hong Kong Academy of Nursing (HKAN) and no master degree is required. Your application is to be submitted through your employer.
